Beauty in British Manufacturing
Exhibition a Huge Success
It received extensive coverage in the Argus and even featured in the hallowed pages of Lighting Magazine. Horsell Electrics Beauty in British Manufacturing exhibition (Which was staged at the Rodhus Gallery at their premises in Hollingdean Road Brighton.) was declared a runaway success by the organisers and the visiting guests alike. Richard Ainsworth the Managing Director of Horsell Electrics said: "This was our launch exhibition so it was really exciting. Over a period of eight weeks, hundreds of local business people including many architects, designers and high-level specifiers visited the gallery. Their feedback was overwhelmingly positive and we are now forging ahead with our next exhibition in March which will showcase the work of four talented young designers."
Horsell Electrics give
wholesalers 'a pizza the action'
Bucking the current doom and gloom is Brighton-based Horsell Electrics and they are motivating their electrical wholesale clients to 'think specials - think Horsell' with a campaign where they will be rewarded with free pizza as a thank you! Dee Blick, Horsell Electrics retained Chartered Marketer explained: "We trialled a very successful pizza campaign with a few of our wholesalers last year. So in March we are rolling out the pizza campaign to our wholesaler client base. When one of our electrical wholesalers reaches £2000 worth of orders in any month between March and June, they get two large pizzas from their favourite pizza takeaway. If they reach £2000 worth of sales in all four months, then they will get four deliveries of pizzas!"
Horsell Electrics Have Local
Architects Firmly in Their Sights
Brighton-based bespoke lighting fittings manufacturer Horsell Electrics has kicked off 2009 with a targeted marketing programme, aimed at raising awareness of the services that they provide with the many local architects in the Sussex area. In the last five years, Horsell Electrics has grown through bespoke lighting commissions, with many coming as a result of individual architects specifying Horsell Electrics for the lighting element of their project. The campaign kicks off with targeted mailings to a small number of local architects and includes invitations to networking events and to exhibitions held at the Rodhus Gallery.
Horsell Electrics to Feature in Marketing Book
Brighton based bespoke lighting manufacturer Horsell Electrics is to feature as a case study in a small business marketing book that is being written by local award-winning Chartered Marketer, Dee Blick. Said Dee, "I work with many local businesses in the Sussex area and, Horsell Electrics are one of my retained clients. When I was considering which clients to use in the book as successful case studies, they were the natural choice to include in my leading chapter on the importance of creating a marketing plan. In the last 14 months Horsell Electrics have gone from strength to strength, simply because Richard, the MD has really got stuck into developing and then implementing a well thought out and robust marketing strategy."
Readers will have to wait until January 21st 2009 when Dee’s book will be on the bookshelves. A book signing is planned at The Rodhus Gallery so watch this space!
Lean without Mean Is the Order of the Day
Thanks to the Manufacturing Advisory Service, Horsell Electrics are officially going ‘Lean’. The business has begun the ‘Lean process’ where cutting out waste, improving processes and looking at ways to improve efficiency at all organisational levels, is the order of the day. Said Richard Ainsworth, Managing Director, Horsell Electrics, "In August 2007, we embarked on a huge marketing programme that really meant going back to basics and looking at our brand and how clients perceive it. We’re now beginning to see the results from this. However, marketing our business is simply the tip of the iceberg. To be able to satisfy the increased demand that our marketing activities are generating, we have to be incredibly efficient. Resting on our laurels is not option. So, committing to the Lean programme is both an exciting and a necessary step for us to take."
Horsell Electrics Launch Networking Group
Proving that bespoke lighting manufacturing in the UK is very much alive and kicking, Brighton based Horsell Electrics has launched a business networking group aimed at local high-end specifiers. The idea for the networking group came out of an informal luncheon that Horsell Electrics held with several of their clients. Stuart Roger, Horsell Electrics’ business development executive takes up the story. "We wanted to find out what our clients really thought about our brand and our products and services. So we invited several clients to lunch at Pelham House in Lewes and we extended the invitation to four local architects. The reaction from everyone attending was overwhelmingly positive, with "more of these events please" being the rallying cry of the day."
At the second luncheon group the guests were treated to an informal talk by Jan Jackson, head of sustainability at Sussex Enterprise. "We are now putting together a programme of networking events for 2009 that will include wine tasting evenings, book signings, traditional luncheons and of course plenty of good old-fashioned networking. So far, every one that we have mentioned this programme to has asked to be included on the invitation list for next year," concluded Stuart.
