Background: The chances are that you will not only have heard about The Book People, you have most likely spent some time reading their colourful catalogues that are packed with the latest must have books at great prices. Based in Godalming in Surrey, the head office of The Book People is an exquisite country house that is set in the most beautiful grounds.
In 2008, a conservatory extension with a vaulted roof was added to the country house, to provide an additional working office. Where the lighting was concerned, the requirement was for subtle but effective lighting. The brief was for a suspended lighting solution with an element of soft uplighting that would show off the vaulted roof and low glare downlighting for effective office use.
We proposed our suspended CX5 range – a suspended, perforated and curved light that was hung on adjustable wires
We also offered a special version of the standard 1200mm unit. The modifications were that the units had to have closed ends and a top cover to seal the fitting to prevent ingress of insects – a not uncommon problem with this kind of suspended light
The fittings were provided with control gear for 54W T5 lamps
The team at The Book People were delighted with the end result. The units work exceptionally well in the conservatory setting as they are both unobtrusive and effective when it comes to lighting the space.
